James Shucart and his son Christopher brought to life their vision of Olde Florida with the initial purchase of the Port of the Islands Marina and Hotel in June of 2005.
After renovation of and improvements to the Hotel and grounds, the property was then purchased by Sunstream Hotels and Resorts, a leading hotel management and development firm with holdings throughout Southwest Florida.
The Shucart's attention then turned toward the Marina where the team invested more than $2,000,000 in the renovation of the entire Marina facility including, but not limited to: installing new Bellingham concrete floating docks, adding new pedestals, electric service and water to each slip, extensive landscaping throughout the property, and the remodeling of the 7,200 SqFt Marina building and ship store.
James Shucart has been actively involved in the Naples, Florida real estate market for over 13 years. His projects have included ownership of The Tides Inn of Naples (a 36 Unit Beach Front Hotel), the Hitching Post Plaza Shopping Center, 4.3 acres of commercially zoned land, 22 condominiums of Gulf Shore Blvd, Estey Air Plaza Shopping Center, and the complete renovation of a luxury home on Keewaydin Island.
Originally from St. Louis, James Shucart was named the Business Man of the Year in 1986 from the City of Northwoods for his redevelopment of a 280,000 SqFt shopping center. Among other accomplishments were the ownership and development of several hundred apartments and condominiums, construction of a 46,000 SqFt building leased to Linens & Things, ownership and renovation of shopping centers and warehouse buildings, major renovations of several large historically important homes, as well as a partnership interest in the ownership of a building leased to Dave & Buster's Restaurant's.
James Shucart graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He also attended Officers Candidate School in Ft. Sill Oklahoma where he received a commission as an officer in the United States Army. He was then stationed near Frankfurt, Germany where he obtained a Top Secret Security Clearance and served as the Battalion Intelligence Officer.
Christopher Shucart graduated CUM Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management & Engineering. Prior to graduation he gained knowledge and experience in various elements of the construction industry by working for one of the largest general contractors in Collier County, a masonry and concrete subcontracting company, a plumbing company, an asphalt sealing company, and one of the countries largest privately owned general contracting construction companies.
Upon graduation, Christopher moved to Naples, Florida and spent his first year working for one of the most well respected construction management firms in Naples. He served as the Assistant Project Manager for the construction of a 65,000 Sqft Middle School. During this time he also obtained his Florida Real Estate Sales License.
In 2004 Christopher and his Father began working together. They purchased and partially renovated the Hitching Post Shopping Center, a 46,000 SqFt retail shopping center located in the East Naples area by Lely Resort and County Club. Christopher's main areas of responsibility included property management, leasing, and supervisions of the renovations.
The following year he was instrumental in the sale of a 4.3 Acre commercially zoned parcel of land adjacent to the shopping center. That same year he and his father purchased the Port of the Islands Hotel and Marina. Christopher provided important elements with respect to the acquisition, management and renovation of the property, as well as working with the Hotel Condominium Association as a board member. In 2006, Christopher and his father purchased the Estey Air Plaza Shopping Center a 38,842 SqFt retail center located on Airport Road in Naples Florida.
James Shucart and Christopher Shucart both act as managing members of The Islands Marina, LLC which currently owns the Port of the Islands Marina.
