Father and son team James Shucart Christopher Shucart brought to life their vision of Olde Florida with the initial purchase of the Port of the Islands Marina and Hotel in June of 2005.
After renovation of and improvements to the Hotel and grounds, the property was then purchased by Sunstream Hotels and Resorts, a leading hotel management and development firm with holdings throughout Southwest Florida.
The Shucart's attention then turned toward the Marina where the team invested more than $2,000,000 in the renovation of the entire Marina facility including, but not limited to: installing new Bellingham concrete floating docks, adding new pedestals, electric service and water to each slip, extensive landscaping throughout the property, and the remodeling of the 7,200 SqFt Marina building and ship store.
In 2008 the ships store, boat launch ramp, and adjacent dry boat storage parking facility was purchased by the Collier County Parks and Recreation Department. This transaction allows all Collier County and Port of the Islands residents the ability to access and enjoy the one and only 10,000 Islands in perpetuity.
James Shucart and Christopher Shucart have a combined experience in real estate development and construction of nearly 40 years. Past and current projects in the Naples Florida area include: The Tides Inn of Naples (a 36 Unit Beach Front Hotel), the Hitching Post Plaza Shopping Center, 4.3 acres of commercially zoned land, 22 condominiums on Gulf Shore Blvd, Promenade Plaza Shopping Center, the complete renovation of a luxury home on Keewaydin Island, 30 acres of commercial/residentially zoned land, and Victoria Square Shopping Center in Downtown Naples, Florida.
James Shucart and Christopher Shucart both act as managing members of The Islands Marina, LLC which currently owns the Port of the Islands Marina.
